This was me TWO years ago. How did this happen? Let me tell you:
  • Zero discipline
  • Zero Power of Why
  • Zero goals
  • Zero accountability
  • Zero self-motivation
  • Zero care
  • Fresh off a divorse, 12-months in the process
  • Zero F’s given…..
Then, something changed. It was time to get my mo-jo back, for my boys and for my clients, and I was serious about it. After a few months, I got this message….
“Chuck, I’m looking at a photo of you on Facebook and it looks like you’ve had an awesome transformation over the last couple of years.”
”Um, thank you, but that was just over 5 months.” I replied. “January 1st to June 1st.”
“WOW! That must have took like three hours a day in the gym?” He asked.
“No, just about 60-90 minutes a day, 5 days a week.”
“Dang! I wish I was as focused as you!”
OMG, I just want to puke each time I see this picture…..🤮🤮🤮🤢🤢🤢
You see, the curse of being a gym owner is:
  1. You see everything that is wrong with everything FIRST and;
  2. You put yourself last
I put myself and my priorities last. LIke….dead-last. I was running out of the 4-Ds:
  • Desire
  • Discipline
  • Dedication
  • Determination
Those are all just synonyms for one word: FEAR.
  • Too afraid to start
  • Too afraid to look like a failure
  • Afraid of what others think of me
  • Afraid of being to far behind
  • Afraid it was impossible for me to get my fitness and health back to where it was
  • Afraid that I was a fraud
And then 💩 finally hit me. I surrendured and allowed myself to break….
A friend of mine in one of my classes told me one day, “You need to be broken. You need to break. You’re not allowing yourself to surrender or be defeted.” Well, I f’ing hate being defeted, in all honesty. But, one day I broke – in my living room. It was very hard for me to surendure, because BREAKING meant a few things to me:
😡 I wasn’t in control of my own future
😡 I was too weak to control my life
😡 I wasn’t strong enough to achieve what I set my sights on years ago
😡 I was a failure in life and business
When you surrendure and break, there no shortage of failures and shortcomings that flood your thoughts and feelings.
And then something happened…..I started to rebuild and recreate my own future. It was either sink or swim and I knew I had no other chances and giving up was not an option. My life and my future for my boys literally depended on me.
First, I set a theme for my life in 2018: SEXY! 🕺🏻🔥
🗣🗣I asked for help!
One thing I used to be REALLY, REALLY bad at was asking for help. So, I asked some people I considered personal friends to help me. Peter San Nichols with my exercise program, and Brian Bain with starting a Keto nutrition program.
📒📒📒🖊🖊🖊Next, I started tracking EVERYTHING I did in the gym.
I even got a $10 a month membership to Planet Fitness, which is just across the street from where I live, so I’d have NO excuses to skip a workout. I even started the year off right with a great weight training session.
💧💧💧💧 I fasted over Lent with water, branch chain amino acids and creatine. Then, I started interrmittent fasting, which I still do today, along with the Keto diet. 🧀🥩🥓🍳🥑🥥
🏋🏻‍♂️🏋🏻‍♂️🏋🏻‍♂️ Strength training only, for me. I only focused on strength training and builidng as much muscle mass as possible with a high-volume program. BTW, this program is listed on the black board at the gym.
After about 2 months I started noticing some pretty significant changes. It seemed like it took my body ~6-weeks to get fat-adapted by the Keto diet.
2-months in
The start of fasting, lifting, BUT no ketogenic diet yet.
3-months in
Three months in, after fasting over 40 days, supplementating with BCAAs, Creatine, and starting keto.
Okay, I really wish I would have taken a different picture, but after all, it was my year of sexy…….
After just 5 FULL months of training and dieting.
Intermittent fasting, Ketogenic diet (which I love), BCAAs & Creatine (ONLY dotFIT), and lifting heavy with minimal conditioning and a heavy, ketogenic diet.
