Goal Setting 101

When I was in high school, my teachers always talked about the importance of goal setting. They harped on the value of long vs. short term goals, and helped us ensure that each goal was well-defined. The five key words that used to make sure each goal was worthwhile were: specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and tangible. Of course the goals I set back then like passing a class, finishing a project or getting into college don’t really apply anymore. I didn’t realize it then, but their advice could be applied to every type of goal-setting.

The specific goal: weight loss/healthy lifestyle change. Is it measurable? Absolutely!
